The Benefits For Facilities Management

Benefits of Anaerobic Digestion for Facilities Management

Commercial Benefits

With more and more organisations aiming for a ‘Zero waste to landfill’ policy, Andigestion’s wheelie bin exchange service offers a flexible and reliable way to recycle food waste from offices, schools, and any other food waste producer. Treating waste through our anaerobic digestion process is significantly cheaper than sending it to a landfill site or a composting plant. We have developed our systems so we can process waste for around a third of the cost of sending it to landfill, ensuring that your disposal costs are greatly reduced.

Nearly all food waste streams that are sent to landfill can be processed through the AD process, but if you’re unsure if your waste is suitable then please get in touch. We weigh all of our bins on each collection so we can provide you with accurate data on how much waste you are producing. This reporting can be used to minimise your wastage by first highlighting the scale of the issue, and secondly highlighting trends over time. Furthermore as an increasing number of organisations are becoming more environmentally aware, it’s another tool to demonstrate how you and your clients are committed to the environment.

Environmental Benefits

Reduce the amount of waste you send to landfill and reduce your greenhouse gas emissions

Organic waste that is sent to landfill allows methane to be released directly into the atmosphere. Methane is around 20 times more potent as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide and therefore far more harmful to the environment.

The AD process captures the energy stored in the methane and turns it into useful electrical energy, heat and biomethane. Furthermore the AD process ensures that vital, finite resources that are essential for plant growth are returned to land in a controlled way.
